General questions about NIVONA fully automatic coffee machines
The grinders are made of hardened steel and are of high-quality conical type.
Yes, for all NIVONA coffee machines, the brewing unit can be removed and cleaned separately. It’s enough to rinse it under cold water and then leave it to dry on a towel overnight. Simple and very clean.
Perhaps the coffee is ground too finely. Please set the grinder to a coarser grind (note: the grind level can only be changed when the grinder is operating!). If you are using ground coffee, make sure that the coffee powder is not ground too finely.
Please thoroughly clean the SPUMATORE frothing aid (disassembled), following the instructions. It is important to remove all milk residues – especially from the upper suction valve of the SPUMATORE. Ensure regular cleaning and use cold water so that the milk does not thicken and blockages do not occur.
Yes, this is normal. After each coffee brewing, residual water from the coffee grounds and excess pressure from the brewing process is drained through the inside of the machine into the drip tray.
First, you can choose the coffee to be weak, medium, or strong by pressing one button (this adjusts the amount of ground coffee – from 7 to 11 g per cup). It is recommended to leave the grind level at medium. Then brew an espresso or coffee. If the espresso is too strong or too weak, adjust the amount of coffee: if too strong – select medium or weak; if too weak – choose more coffee grounds, i.e. medium or strong. After this adjustment, a more precise adjustment can be made by changing the grind level (note: the grind level can only be changed when the grinder is operating). For a more intense flavor, such as espresso, slowly reduce the grind; for lighter coffee – increase the grind until the optimal result is achieved according to your taste.
There are two metal contacts at the back of the drip tray - they need to be clean and dry. Please also ensure that the corresponding contacts in the device housing are equally dry and free of residues.
Yes, because only a properly cleaned and descaled espresso machine ensures a long-lasting and carefree coffee enjoyment. Please follow the instructions displayed on the device display and in the user manual. Use Premium Liquid Descaler or other commercially available, preferably liquid descalers specifically designed for fully automatic coffee machines. Under no circumstances should you use citric acid, vinegar, or sulfuric acid, as this will damage the internal seals of the device.
No, we do not recommend it – mineral water also contains minerals, calcium, and magnesium, which can promote limescale formation. We recommend using clean tap water, regularly descaling the coffee machine, and using it together with the CLARIS fresh water filter.
